Shine bright like a diamond.

This past week was amazing! I got to see my family, friends, a lot of baseball/softball and of course I got my nails done!

My sister sent me a picture from Pinertrest telling me to get my nails done like the picture. The lady who did my nails nailed it! 😉 I did bio seaweed gel like I always do when I go home. It never fails, I love my nails!

You can get this look with regular nail polish as well. Use OPIs Mod About You, which is similar to the light pink color on the thumb, index and pinky fingers. For the ring finger, use OPIs Mariah Carey Pink Yet Lavender. Finally for the middle finger apply OPIs Fab-YOU-lous. Completing the diamond shapes on the middle finger with a white stripe-rite brush.

I got to spend a lot of time with my grandma at home, which was a blessing. My grandma was recently diagnosed with cancer and living in Nashville I never see her. When I was with my grandma we went through old pictures. Looking through the old pictures was priceless. I got to see all my mom’s hairstyles. 

My favorite is the bottom left picture, where she has pigtails and a plaid shirt on! Priceless!

I also found out why I am such a cool  kid now!

Look at that outfit!

It was a jam packed week, but worth every minute. I went to my father’s last high school softball banquet. This was his last season as East Lake’s head softball coach. This coming fall he will be the pitching coach for Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. They are very blessed to have my father! I am being a little biased, but my dad is awesome!

I also got to watch my dads travel team play. They won every game — just saying.

In the seven days that I was home I went to four baseball games and four softball games. I guess I just can’t stay away when the weather is 80 and sunny. Could you?

When I was not at a game, I went to the beach or the pool. Which was everyday. I live close to Clearwater beach, making it easy to sit back, relax and soak up the sun.

The best part about my family and the person who keeps me from going crazy, is my sister Lyndsie. 

I think we look a lot a like. That’s just me though. My sister is the best! She acts like she will kill you if you mess with the family, but she wont kill you. She will just hit you hard. 😉

Lyndsie wants to get another puppy to keep her company. She knows that I love animals of all kinds, so she invited me to the puppy store. My mom was not happy about this. She figured I would be the one coming home with a dog and not my sister. When my sister walked into the puppy store and first saw the puppies she was worse than me! I wanted to pet all the puppies but, she actually wanted to take all of them home! Who wouldn’t though? Look at these little puppy faces!(“It’s so fluffy!!!!!!!”)

They were adorable! If you are thinking of adopting a dog or cat from a shelter please do! They all would love to be saved and have a cozy home.

Overall my trip was outstanding. It always is when I go home and see the people that I love.

Batter up! Baseball season is back!

Growing up I was always a big baseball fan. My father would take my sister and me to almost every Devil Rays game when we were younger. The picture bottom right is of (in order) my dad, me and my sister. Weren’t we cute?

Even though the Devil Rays are now the Rays, I am still a major fan! This past year I got to meet Ben Zobrist, who is one of the Rays’ top players. 

Ben recently spoke at Lipscomb University, where I got to meet him. I was a little celeb shocked when I met him, but I managed to get a picture.

I may have been a little sweaty shaking his hand. I mean it’s not every day you get to meet your hometown baseball team star!

This year I was also was blessed to meet R.A. Dickey when he came to speak at chapel. Dickey is a NL Cy Young award winner who recently signed with the Blue Jays organization.

I was pretty excited to meet him as well! Yes, that is RA Dickey in our locker room.

I got to talk with RA about his move to the Blue Jays organization. Growing up only 15 minutes away from where the Blue Jays’ spring training games were held, I would always watch them play. The picture below is from spring training 2012 vs. the Braves.

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget that this is still a nail blog! What can I say? I get a little excited about baseball season.

Now that spring training is finally over and baseball season is back in business, I wanted to do a nail design that would be a definite home run!

Thankfully I have a wonderful mother who knows I am obsessed with nails and baseball so she sent me the idea. Yes she actually drew it out for me.

To get this baseball look start out with a base coat, like always then, take reinforcement labels which you can find at any store that sells office supplies. The colorful ones are optional. 🙂

Taking a reinforcement label, place it just blow the white part of your nail tip. This will help you get a french tip look.

Paint the tip of your nail white. For this look I used two coats of Sinful Colors’ Snow Me White.

Your nail should look like the picture above. Let dry for around five seconds, then pull off the reinforcement label carefully. 

Next, I used a red stripe rite brush to make a line right under the french tip. Still using the red stripe rite brush, I placed diagonal dashes along the red under the french tip to get the look of baseball seams.

There is always a chance of polish getting on your skin. If you wish to remove the polish around the nail so you can take fabulous pictures of your nails before messing them up because your nails are not dry and you have to go to the bathroom, just take a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover and remove the polish around the skin.

Finish with a top coat!
