Pre-season Confessional

Readers! I am very sorry I have not been able to post much in the last month. Volleyball season has started back up. Meaning…I have no life. I’m kidding, I do have a life just not enough time to do my nails. 😦

If you would go to the Lipscomb Volleyball Facebook page and hit like, that would be awesome! We are trying to reach 5,000 likes before our first game August 30th against University of Georgia.

If you were wondering what I have done in the past month let me give you a quick rundown.

My nails were grown out and need to be done. I was bored with the colors so I painted cats on them!

I went home on July 19th to celebrate my 19th birthday, which was July 17th. 🙂 Of course, when I went home I got Bio Seaweed gel on my nails. IMG_9352

When I got back to Nashville my friend Christian wanted me to paint his nails. I thought he was joking.

IMG_9423

Let me tell you…he was not joking!

On tax free weekend I got lucky and bought a pair of Nike running shoes for twenty dollars at the Nike outlet!

I was looking for cute hairstyles for work and came across this…IMG_9494

Don’t worry I didn’t go out in public!

I got a fill and chose to do my accent nail on my index finger for something different. Turns out I ended up really liking the look.IMG_9576

I can’t remember the names of both colors, but the pink polish is Essie and the sparkle is OPI.

Then, pre-sesaon activities started! Every year we go on a team retreat. This year the seniors chose to go to Deer Run. It was amazing!  We zipped lined into a lake and climbed up a 33 foot tree to jump off and ring a bell.

Next, we ran around downtown Nashville taking pictures of ourselves holding up LUV with our hands trying to win a scavenger hunt. Don’t let me forget to tell you the best part, my team won! GO TEAM CAMO!

Then, pre-season practice finally started! If you don’t know what pre-season is, it’s a lot of volleyball practice put into two weeks. After two days we kept track of how many hours we had been in the gym. The total was 18 hours. Like I said before volleyball is my life and I love it!

IMG_9590

You could imagine that my nails probably needed to be done after all those practices. Well you were right! I sponged my nails gradient pink and orange. Then, I took a black stripe rite polish and painted a bunch of different designs on each of my nails.

Let’s not forget how bad my feet need a pedicure!

Finally, this past weekend I got to go out with the team! Dressing up and feeling pretty felt amazing! Do you ever have one of those days where you just feel like looking nice?

Summer LUV’EM had me a blast!

School is finally out and I have already done so many fun things! On May 2nd-4th I had the pleasure of experiencing the Kentucky Oaks Day and Kentucky Derby. My friend Megan on the volleyball team let me stay in her Kentucky home to really experience the Derby. She was funny and warned me that her house was not the typical Kentucky home. Being from Florida I have no idea what the typical Kentucky home is but, her place was awesome! She lived 4o minutes from the main road. It was great learning about the history and traditions of Oaks and Derby from her and all her friends.IMG_7870

For Oaks day I wore a light pink dress from Urban Outfitters. I also wore the dress for my high school graduation. I love this dress because it has a open back but, it still looks classy. For Oaks day I learned that it is tradition to wear pink in support of fighting breast cancer.IMG_7929

For my make-up I used my typical everyday Mac pallet. My lipstick was my favorite part of my make-up though. I wore a Nars lipstick called Schiap.

We got lucky and met on of the horse owners. He got megan and I tickets to go up to the grand stands. This was awesome view for a first time experience.

Oh yea I forgot to mention that we were only sitting two rows over from Johnny Damon!

For Derby day I wore a white dress with a neon belt from Express. I love this dress so much but, mother nature didn’t. It was raining almost the whole time durning Derby. It didn’t matter to Megan and I though we were still going to have fun and hunt for Lauren Conrad! IMG_7943

IMG_7950

Of course I had to have a hat for Derby! I got my hat for a great price at a small boutique in Nashville called Monkee’s.

After I got done with Kentucky fun, I went to Mexico. Well kind of. It was Cinco De Mayo! On the 5th of May, as you probably guessed, I went to a Mexican restraint with a bunch of friends for our friend Carly’s 21st birthday!

I wore a red peplum top from Express, with a pair of Express jeans. For shoes, I wore black wedges that I got at Blush, a small boutique in Nashville. Of course our beads added a little extra to the look. 🙂

Lastly, on the 8th of May through the 19th of May I traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on a mission trip with the Lipscomb Volleyball team. I had such a great time! We helped paint a school and got close to a local church. There were many friends made and many new things to see. To read more about the trip visit Lipscomb Volleyball’s page.

Duck Dynasty Camo.

Being on a sports team at Lipscomb has it’s perks. Every year we have to work an event called Don Meyer Evening of Excellence. This year our volleyball team was working concessions to try to raise money for our mission trip to Brazil. Every year at the Don Meyer Evening of Excellence there is a new guest who speaks, this year the guest, well guests were Phil Robison, Miss. K and Si from the hit reality television show Duck Dynasty. The first show sold out so quickly that they added two more shows! This was one of Lipscomb University’s biggest events in history!

Our coach set a meeting time to meet with Phil and Si from the show!

Everyone was wearing camouflage! Even the Bison decided to dress up!IMG_7796 Being the typical Brittnay that I am, I had to do something special with my nails. So I did camouflage nails!

IMG_7736

To get this look, I painted a base coat to protect my nails from staining yellow or green from the polish I was going to use.

I painted two coats of China Glaze Rare and Radiant and let that dry.

Next, I took OPIs Over the Taupe and placed a drop of polish on a piece of paper. Using my dotting tool I placed an assorted shape evenly all over my nails.

Then, I took my green stripe rite brush and made a longer miss shaped design all over my nail. Doing the same with a black stripe rite brush.

Place a matte top coat to finish the look, giving it a more natural camouflage look. If you don’t have a matte top coat, any regular top coat will work.

We had way to much fun this weekend working the Don Meyer Evening of Excellence. Everyone was so supportive in helping us raise money for our mission trip to Brazil this May. IMG_7775
