Happy new year!

It’s 2014! Just like every year I am going to make sure this year is better than the last! Today is the first day of spring semester and I couldn’t be more excited! I am finally getting into my Telecommunication classes. That means I am finally going to be speaking on camera. I also am sideline reporting the girls basketball games for our school sports radio. It is so exciting to finally get some experience, which is also making me excited for the real world.

For Christmas I was home in the FLA and obviously had to visit Boutique nails. My mother, sister, and I all got holiday nails. We all got what Boutique nails is famous for, bio seaweed gel. Lyndsie, my sister, had the best ones I think. Just look at that snow flake! The nail tech did that by hand! IMG_0766

For some reason my nails grow extremely fast and I think it’s because I am so active. The nails pictured below were my nails a week and a half later, the day after Christmas. During that time I was working out, hitting softballs with my dad, playing indoor, and beach volleyball. Those puppies held on strong!

I went back to Boutique the day after Christmas and paid 35 dollars for a new set of bio seaweed gel New Years nails.

If you have not noticed by now I LOVE glitter. I am currently typing with my nails the way they are pictured above. My nails have grown out a lot since I had them done, but I am going to see how long they last. With volleyball starting back up I am interested to see if they will last a month like normal.

Great Gatsby inspired nails tutorial.

I have not yet seen the Great Gatsby, but it is on my list of things to do when it finally comes out on red box. This movie is known for the beautiful gowns and fabulous jewelry..so why not make some gorgeous nails to go along!

What you will need for this tutorial: A sparkle nail polish, for this I used OPIs Dazzled, Essie’s minted apple, a top coat of your choice, striping tape and scissors to cut the striping tape. IMG_9774

For this look I started with two coats of OPIs Dazzled. After letting that dry I took striping tape (doesn’t matter what color) and made the designs that I wanted. IMG_9775

Be sure that the striping tape is laying flat along your nail. Then, paint two coats of Essie’s minted apple. Let the Essie polish sit for 30 seconds and peal off the stripping tape slowly. If you let the polish dry all the way it will be difficult to remove the tape. IMG_9776

Once you remove the tape you should get something like this! IMG_9761

This look is so easy to accomplish, I did it on a sleeper bus on the way to Virginia Tech!

Happy painting! 🙂
