Not a single nail chipped or broke! My nails could have lasted longer, I just have nail A.D.D and can’t deal with my nails being that grown out. I was so impressed! I always rave about bio seaweed gel, but I am telling you guys that it is the real deal! I believe that every nail salon should invest in this product because customers love the way it looks and the quality of the product.
It’s 2014! Just like every year I am going to make sure this year is better than the last! Today is the first day of spring semester and I couldn’t be more excited! I am finally getting into my Telecommunication classes. That means I am finally going to be speaking on camera. I also am sideline reporting the girls basketball games for our school sports radio. It is so exciting to finally get some experience, which is also making me excited for the real world.
For Christmas I was home in the FLA and obviously had to visit Boutique nails. My mother, sister, and I all got holiday nails. We all got what Boutique nails is famous for, bio seaweed gel. Lyndsie, my sister, had the best ones I think. Just look at that snow flake! The nail tech did that by hand!
For some reason my nails grow extremely fast and I think it’s because I am so active. The nails pictured below were my nails a week and a half later, the day after Christmas. During that time I was working out, hitting softballs with my dad, playing indoor, and beach volleyball. Those puppies held on strong!
I went back to Boutique the day after Christmas and paid 35 dollars for a new set of bio seaweed gel New Years nails.
If you have not noticed by now I LOVE glitter. I am currently typing with my nails the way they are pictured above. My nails have grown out a lot since I had them done, but I am going to see how long they last. With volleyball starting back up I am interested to see if they will last a month like normal.
I was on Pinterest recently and found this awesome pin about the top 15 nail blogs to follow.
No, mine blog was not on the list, but I did find some awesome websites to check out! I figured I would post about them so that,
1) You guys have the pleasure of also viewing them
2) So I always know where to find some great ideas and styles to try out!
So here are the blogs!

Happy Painting! 🙂
I was doing the normal morning routine –like forcing myself to get out of bed — when my sister sent me a text with the nails she planned on getting. I loved the design she sent me and noticed that she found the picture of the nails on Instagram. The user name was @we_twerk_them_nails. My nails were not looking to hot, so I wanted to grab some ideas. That is when I saw what I wanted to do to my nails! The colors just look outstanding together. I had to give it a try.
To start this look off, I grabbed four colors that would look similar to the ones in the picture. I used L’Oreal Tangerine Crush, Opi’s Suzi Says Feng Shui, Pro Gel’s Electric Pink and Essie’s Mint Candy Apple. Let us not forget about the black stripe rite brush! You can use whatever colors you would like, these are just the ones I owned that would work together.
Let’s start with the base colors. On the thumb and pinky fingers paint Electric Pink. Continue onto the middle finger with Tangerine Crush. After, draw two parallel black lines using the black stripe rite brush on the index and ring fingers. You should get a little something like this.
Don’t worry about the black lines being perfect because, you will paint over them.
Add another coat of polish to the thumb, middle and pinky fingers.
Now, onto the ring and index fingers. For this design I would suggest doing them one at a time. Taking the black stripe rite brush draw two diagonal lines, which will makes the design look like four to five small triangles. There is an example pictured below.
Next add Suzi Says Feng Shui to the top and bottom of the nail. Then, add Electric Pink and Mint Candy Apple. Like I said don’t worry about the black lines. Once that all dries, add another coat to both blues and the pink. Let all that dry.
Take the stripe rite brush and go back over the lines that were previously made. I would take this part very slow and steady to prevent any messy lines.
Finally, I used gold and pink Caviar beads to complete the look. To add the beads I just used a dotting tool that had been dipped in a top coat polish. This helps the beads stick to the nail.
So far your nails should look a something like this!
Time to move on to the Electric Pink nails. Using a dotting tool place a dot of Suzi Says Feng Shui near the nail bed to complete the look for the thumb and pinky fingers.
For the middle finger use a dotting tool and alternate Suzi Says Feng Shui and Electric pick creating a cross shape. After those dry, using the same process as the ring and index fingers, take a dotting tool and place gold caviar beds which will outline the cross shape that you just made with the alternating dots. Finish with a top coat and that’s all there is to it!
Happy Painting! 🙂
This past week was amazing! I got to see my family, friends, a lot of baseball/softball and of course I got my nails done!
My sister sent me a picture from Pinertrest telling me to get my nails done like the picture. The lady who did my nails nailed it! 😉 I did bio seaweed gel like I always do when I go home. It never fails, I love my nails!
You can get this look with regular nail polish as well. Use OPIs Mod About You, which is similar to the light pink color on the thumb, index and pinky fingers. For the ring finger, use OPIs Mariah Carey Pink Yet Lavender. Finally for the middle finger apply OPIs Fab-YOU-lous. Completing the diamond shapes on the middle finger with a white stripe-rite brush.
I got to spend a lot of time with my grandma at home, which was a blessing. My grandma was recently diagnosed with cancer and living in Nashville I never see her. When I was with my grandma we went through old pictures. Looking through the old pictures was priceless. I got to see all my mom’s hairstyles.
My favorite is the bottom left picture, where she has pigtails and a plaid shirt on! Priceless!
I also found out why I am such a cool kid now!
It was a jam packed week, but worth every minute. I went to my father’s last high school softball banquet. This was his last season as East Lake’s head softball coach. This coming fall he will be the pitching coach for Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla. They are very blessed to have my father! I am being a little biased, but my dad is awesome!
I also got to watch my dads travel team play. They won every game — just saying.
I think we look a lot a like. That’s just me though. My sister is the best! She acts like she will kill you if you mess with the family, but she wont kill you. She will just hit you hard. 😉
Lyndsie wants to get another puppy to keep her company. She knows that I love animals of all kinds, so she invited me to the puppy store. My mom was not happy about this. She figured I would be the one coming home with a dog and not my sister. When my sister walked into the puppy store and first saw the puppies she was worse than me! I wanted to pet all the puppies but, she actually wanted to take all of them home! Who wouldn’t though? Look at these little puppy faces!(“It’s so fluffy!!!!!!!”)
They were adorable! If you are thinking of adopting a dog or cat from a shelter please do! They all would love to be saved and have a cozy home.
Overall my trip was outstanding. It always is when I go home and see the people that I love.
Give your loved ones hugs and kisses. Live your life like it’s everyones last day.
This kit comes with 12 different colors of hexagon glitters, which you can find on Amazon for a really good price.
Start with base coat. Next, paint one coat of any color polish you would like. For this step I used China Glaze For Audrey. After you let the first coat of polish dry completely, add a second coat. It is really important you allow the polish to dry in between coats, because the hexagon glitter will easily get lost or clumped in the polish.
Before doing anything with the hexagon glitter, get prepared by laying out all of the sparkles you are using, take a piece of paper and add a drop of clear coat to the paper. I used a flashcard, but you can use whatever you would like. Have your dotting tool or a tooth pick, ready to dip into the clear coat to pick up a hexagon glitter.
For the next step, place a single piece of the hexagon glitter onto the nail. I started placing the sparkles at the tip of the nail making sure that the side of the glitter is able to be matched up with the glitter piece that I will place next to it.
After you completely cover your nail with the hexagon glitter, add a top coat. Make sure your nails are dry before doing anything, or the hexagon glitter will easily mess up. This look takes time and patiences, but is completely worth it!
Happy Painting! 🙂
I know I normally don’t do nail salon reviews, but I went and got my nails done the other day. I was blown out of the water! Im really disappointed I didn’t take pictures of the salon on the outside, but I got a lot of the inside. I had no idea how awesome this place really was!
The nail bar is located in Franklin Tenn. by a greek food place and a mattress store. It looks like the typical strip shop that every nail salon is in. Not on the inside though! Right when you walk into the Nail Bar you feel like you are in a 1970s night club. To me this was a sweet surprise.
The waiting room has a comfy and massive purple suede couch for customers who are waiting. The walls of the waiting room have tons of nail polish to choose from. Not to mention that all the polishes were color coordinated, making it easier on the eyes when picking out the polish you like. The waiting room also has different types of lotion that you can choose from for a manicure or pedicure. I got Flirty and loved the smell of it. I loved that they allowed me to pick the type of lotion I wanted instead of having the typical lavender smell that I honestly can’t stand.
When you walk into the main area of the salon there is a nail bar right in the middle of the floor. Surrounding the bar are pedicure chairs that are comfy and are always clean when you sit down. One thing I don’t like is a messy pedicure bowl that someone else just had their feet in.
The walls are painted all black making it dark in the salon, but this is perfect for the bar look they are going for. On the sides of the bar there is a lounge area with purple suede on the walls where customers dry their nails. I loved this look! The walls made you feel like you were in an actual bar in the 1970s. This made the experience fun and different.
Not only were the surroundings cool but the service was great! The nail technicians were very accommodating and always called me by my name. The nail technicians only spoke english on the floor. I think everyone can agree that no one likes it when your nail technician starts speaking another language.
I ended up getting a gel manicure which only cost 25 dollars, and a pedicure which was 30. That is a very good price in the Nashville/Franklin area. They had a lot of gel color choices to choose from and also did not charge extra for the gel that I previously had on my nails. Normally salons charge an extra five dollars to take off your old gel polish. I was very pleased that I did not have to pay extra. My feet felt amazing and looked awesome!
Another interesting thing about the Nail Bar is that it’s BYOB. So if you are of age you can bring your own alcohol and have a good time while you are getting your nails done. This is a great idea for a evening out with the girls, a birthday party or even a bachelorette party. I went with some of my friends and we had a blast!
Spring is finally here in beautiful Nashville, Tenn. The sun is shining and people are playing frisbee here on campus. With these last few busy weeks coming up, studying outside in the sun is all I need to keep me relaxed. Spring is definitely my favorite time of year! The weather is perfect, and it’s not too hot outside yet.
For this post, I wanted to put a little bit of an Easter spin to it, which is perfect for springtime! Pastel colors are always the way to go in the spring!
Next, use a dotting tool — if you don’t have a dotting tool use a pencil — to place different-sized dots on the nail.
Using Opi’s Did It On Em place dots on the nail starting with bigger dots at the tip of the nail as well as placing more dots at the tip of the nail. Work your way down the nail using smaller dots as well as less dots as you get near the bottom of the nail.
Finish with a top coat and that’s it!
This is a very simple and fun nail design. Plus, there are so many color combinations it’s unreal!
Happy painting! 🙂
Growing up I was always a big baseball fan. My father would take my sister and me to almost every Devil Rays game when we were younger. The picture bottom right is of (in order) my dad, me and my sister. Weren’t we cute?
I may have been a little sweaty shaking his hand. I mean it’s not every day you get to meet your hometown baseball team star!
I was pretty excited to meet him as well! Yes, that is RA Dickey in our locker room.
I got to talk with RA about his move to the Blue Jays organization. Growing up only 15 minutes away from where the Blue Jays’ spring training games were held, I would always watch them play. The picture below is from spring training 2012 vs. the Braves.
Don’t worry, I didn’t forget that this is still a nail blog! What can I say? I get a little excited about baseball season.
Now that spring training is finally over and baseball season is back in business, I wanted to do a nail design that would be a definite home run!
To get this baseball look start out with a base coat, like always then, take reinforcement labels which you can find at any store that sells office supplies. The colorful ones are optional. 🙂
Paint the tip of your nail white. For this look I used two coats of Sinful Colors’ Snow Me White.
Next, I used a red stripe rite brush to make a line right under the french tip. Still using the red stripe rite brush, I placed diagonal dashes along the red under the french tip to get the look of baseball seams.
There is always a chance of polish getting on your skin. If you wish to remove the polish around the nail so you can take fabulous pictures of your nails before messing them up because your nails are not dry and you have to go to the bathroom, just take a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover and remove the polish around the skin.
Finish with a top coat!
Hope you enjoyed this post! If you are baseball fan, may your team have a good season and lose to the Rays! GO RAYS!
